HTC One M9 Specs, Review: The Android Flagship That Failed to Meet ExpectationsRead more at

Earlier this year, HTC was among the favorites when it comes to making the best Android smartphones. The One M8 last year was testament that the Taiwanese manufacturer can provide a premium device for Android lovers.

Unfortunately for HTC, its One M9 did not meet expectations, and so several reports show that the company has once again posted losses in the first two quarters of the year.

Here are some of the main reasons why the One M9 was not what fans hoped for:

Retained Full HD resolution

It was last year that the market was introduced to the next best thing in screen resolution QHD or 2K (2560 x 1440). Almost everyone expected Android flagships in 2015 to get the same up-to-date screen resolution technology. Unfortunately, HTC decided that 1080p displays are still better, and the company definitely paid the price for it.

Unremarkable Camera

In the company's first years in the Android market, it has been known to manufacture quality camera sensors. However, that has not been the case in recent years. Fortunately, the company has included a higher resolution sensor, 20MP, compared to the 4MP UltraPixel technology it installed in the One M8. However, in spite the upgrade, reports and reviews mentioned that it still underperformed against the competition.

Non-removable battery

Unlike last year's model, the HTC One M9 now has a microSD card slot that can support up to 128GB of memory. Add that to the 32GB built-in memory and the phone is a decent storage for media such as songs, videos and movies. However, the manufacturer failed to make the battery user-replaceable. It could have been one of the few things that gave the One M9 an edge over the competition.

HTC is a great smartphone manufacturer, but lately it seems the company is trying its best to find its lost identity. If it wants to become relevant again, then it should figure out this problem right now.
